ABOUT THE BOOK

“Love is blind, and it will take over your mind
What you think is love, is truly not
You need to elevate and find,” –Eve

I couldn’t help but feel ashamed as I bobbed my head to the beat and sang along to the lyrics as I placed a bag of ice gently over My blackened eye. How could I be this woman? This woman of substance and a woman of voice to help others, but here I was being beaten. Sometimes love is blind and it for sure took over my mind…I just prayed that I would find the courage to leave and be the woman I was destined to be. Good Morning Readers! Of course you know that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This week, I decided to start a blog series highlighting books written in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness titled, Love Shouldn’t Hurt.

dvam-oct2016-4

Domestic Violence is best understood as a pattern of abusive behaviors – including physical, sexual, and psychological attacks as well as economic coercion – used by one intimate partner against another (adult or adolescent) to gain, maintain, or regain power and control in the relationship. Batterers use of a range of tactics to frighten, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, blame, often injure, and sometimes kill a current or former intimate partner. (via the National Resource Center of Domestic Violence.)

If you or anyone you know is a victim of Domestic Violence, please visit the National Domestic Violence Hotline or call 1 (800) 799-SAFE (7233).

Each day, starting Monday, October 22nd a book will be posted on the blog. You will be able to find each post easily by selecting the Category Love Shouldn’t Hurt Series in the sidebar.

Love Shouldn’t Hurt and this is my way of spreading awareness as well as highlighting some amazingly talented authors.

The first Love Shouldn’t Hurt feature will be Chasing Storm by Monica L. Smith.

I hope you will be back to visit each day to show your support & help spread awareness by sharing each post on your social media and purchasing &/or gifting a copy of one or more books.

Have A great Sunday!

Until next time …
